Kerstin Miller earned her Masters Degree in Theology/Pastoral Counseling from the University of Hamburg, Germany. She came to the United States to work as a pastoral counselor at a Philadelphia Medical center, where she worked with chronically ill patients and their families. Kerstin finished her post-graduate studies at Council for Relationships in 1995 to become a marriage and family therapist.
Kerstin is trained as an EMDR therapist, and her experience is the therapeutic work on trauma related issues. Trauma and early childhood trauma can result in depression and anxiety, and the pain of trauma also can contribute to the experience of somatic symptoms including fibromyalgia, MS, chronic pain and insomnia. Kerstin is committed to working with couples and individuals to explore these underlying issues in a gentle and respectful pace. Her therapeutic focus lies on stress management and emotion regulation.
In addition, Kerstin's clinical expertise is marital therapy. For many complex reasons partners can find themselves feeling lonely and disconnected in their marriages, and she is committed to help couples reconnect and reestablish their emotional intimacy. Her empathy is to help couples to find compassion and emotional availability for each other. Kerstin is trained in sex therapy, and her experience includes working with sexual minorities.
Kerstin is a licensed marriage and family therapist and Clinical member of AAMFT. She is a trained educator to teach PREP Couples Communication, PAIRS Relationship Skills, and Stress and Anger Management. |
